Role synopsis As the Third Engineer, you will be a watch keeping member of the engineering department onboard a deep sea going oil or gas tanker, undertaking worldwide voyages. You will also act as the Safety Officer.
Key accountabilities Aside from maintaining independent watches and completing day work, you will be assigned routine maintenance work by the Second Engineer as per the Planned Maintenance System (PMS). Your duties and responsibilities may include:
fresh water generator systems
fuel pumps and systems
main and emergency generators
water pumping systems
emergency fire pump and systems
assisting the Second Engineer in preparing spare gear and equipment procurement requirements
You will also be required to act as a member of the Shipboard Emergency Response and Fire Fighting teams and carry out ISPS duties in accordance with the Ship Security Plan.
Essential Education A valid unrestricted Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency (STCW 95 III/1)
Essential experience and job requirements Six months previous experience as an officer on watch onboard a tanker is highly desirable. You will need to be fluent in both written and spoken English.
Other essential skills and knowledge It is desirable for you to hold a valid Dangerous Cargo Endorsement (Oil or Gas) and have previous experience sailing on oil or gas tankers.
Desirable criteria & qualifications Experience on Oil and/or Gas Tanker Vessels.
